Deerfield Beach is an award winning "Blue Wave" beach that’s perfect for a relaxing day at the beach, while also providing beachgoers with fun and exciting things to do.
This beautiful beach community is located in Broward County, between Boca Raton to the north, and Pompano Beach to the south, and considered part of the greater Miami metropolitan area.
Visitors to Deerfield Beach can also enjoy Hillsboro Beach, a small beach town of less than 2,000 people, immediately to the south.
Blue Wave Certified Beach
Deerfield Beach was awarded the “Blue Wave” status from the Clean Beach Council for excellent water quality, beach conditions and habitat conservation, in addition to safety services and public information.
The pristine beaches of Deerfield Beach are excellent for water sports and beach activities, especially at the International Fishing Pier, and Quiet Waters Park.
Vendors are nearby the beach to help with everything you need to surf, scuba dive, snorkel, paddleboard, ride jet skis, and more. Boat tours and eco-adventures are also available, along with lessons to learn a new water sport.
One of the most important features of Deerfield Beach is safety. In just one mile of ocean shoreline, there are nine lifeguard stations. Lifeguards are on duty from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM every day of the year.
The beach’s rescue division is also certified by the United States Lifesaving Association. So, you can be assured that highly qualified lifeguards are on duty to protect the beach, and keep you safe.
To further ensure the safety and protection of all visitors, the beach has specific rules and regulations that must be followed at all times.
Besides sunbathing, shelling, and enjoying Deerfield Beach’s sandy coastline, the beach is a terrific place to enjoy a wide variety of water sports. Swimmers love the clean, beautiful and refreshing water in Deerfield Beach that is also perfect for bodyboarding, surfing, snorkeling, and fishing.
Ski Rixen is one of the places you have to visit while in Deerfield Beach. It has the oldest and longest "cable ski" course in the nation, with a 2,700-foot oval course. Besides the ski course, Ski Rixen provides lessons, has special events, and has a summer camp.
The waves at Deerfield Beach are great for surfing, which is permitted on the north side of the pier and south of lifeguard tower #9. Just make sure you follow the beach’s surf etiquette.
If you are just learning to surf, Island Camps offers a variety of surf programs for all ages.
Deerfield Beach is an excellent place to play sand volleyball, even for professionals. The courts are well maintained and have hosted Olympic Sand Volleyball Trials, as well as amateur and semi-professional tournaments. Although the courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, there are seven courts, so there’s a good chance you’ll find an open court.
The sand volleyball courts are located north of the pier in the recreation area. Games are played to a total score of 15 points, and the winning team can remain on the court to play the next challenging team.
The city of Deerfield Beach is an eco-friendly community, and conscious of threats to the sea turtle population. In an effort to help protect these amazing creatures, the city has forged a relationship with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
To learn more about local conservation, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, in nearby Boca Raton, is open to the public. The organization focuses on environmental education, research, and conservation of many species of plants and animals, including sea turtle conservation.
